Quick answer

Students do not need to own an airplane. Robbie can help coordinate access to Cessna and Piper rental aircraft through a separate provider at Van Nuys, or provide instruction in a suitable owner-provided aircraft. Rental rates and availability are separate from instruction and should be confirmed before scheduling.

Cessna 172S G1000

A 180-horsepower, IFR-equipped technically advanced aircraft suited to private, instrument, and commercial training. Current rate: $180 per hour wet or $170 per hour with a ten-hour block.

Cessna 172N

A cost-effective 160-horsepower training platform with conventional instruments and Garmin 430 navigation. Suitable aircraft are available for VFR and IFR training. Current rate: $160 per hour wet or $150 per hour with a ten-hour block.

Piper Cherokee 180

A stable 180-horsepower conventional-panel aircraft available for VFR training. Current rate: $160 per hour wet or $150 per hour with a ten-hour block.

Aircraft-owner instruction

Training is also available in a suitable owner-provided aircraft. An owner-aircraft plan begins with the exact make, model, avionics, operating documents, maintenance status, insurance requirements, and the missions you intend to fly.

Transition and proficiency work should address the installed equipment and failure modes rather than assuming all G1000, GPS, autopilot, or upgraded-panel installations operate identically.

Can I train in my own airplane?

Yes. Training in an appropriate owner-provided aircraft is welcomed and often provides the most directly useful experience.
