Flight Training Aircraft Rental at Van Nuys Airport

I have partnered with a flight school at the Van Nuys airport to provide airplanes for my students to train in. I chose this school because it provides well maintained airplanes at a good price. Below are the available options

Instruction (Ground and Flight): $70/hour

Affordable Aircraft Options for PPL, IFR, and Commercial Training

  • 2005 Cessna 172 with G1000 glass cockpit. Technologically Advanced Aircraft (TAA). 180 horsepower. Excellent private pilot training aircraft as well as an excellent platform to learn instrument flying.

    $170/hr or $160/hr block rate

  • Two of these are available, 1978 and 1980 models. 160 horsepower. Most cost-effective solution for Private Pilot training in Los Angeles. These airplanes have standard 6-packs (steam gauges) and make great VFR trainers.

    $150/hr or $140/hr block rate

  • 1966 Piper Archer. Equipped with a 6-pack. 180 horsepower. Another great VFR trainer. I personally prefer the Cessna 172, but everyone has their own opinions!

    $150/hr or $140/hr block rate

  • 1978 Cessna 152 (2 seater). Standard 6 pack with 125 horsepower. This is a great time-building aircraft. Perfect for solo cross-country flights. However, for most people it may be a bit small to be a comfortable dual trainer. The weight limit for this aircraft limits the weight of students I can teach in this airplane.

    $120/hr or $115/hr block rate

  • 1961 Cessna 182. Standard six-pack and 230 horsepower. Provides more payload for flights with passengers. You can get your complex and high performance endorsements in this airplane. The Commercial certificate used to require complex training, but now Commercial requirements can be completed in a TAA aircraft (such as the G1000 Cessna 172).

    $200/hr or $190/hr block rate
